Service Insights

What is Service Insights?

Service Insights on MealConnect (SIMC) is a free, state-approved, web-based intake tool that replaces paper intake forms. It can be used with any device that connects to the internet, and it is provided to all network members of the St. Louis Area Foodbank at no cost.

Also known as Neighbor Intake, Service Insights replaces that stack of unsorted intake forms with digitally secure, easily reportable data. When a neighbor shows up to an event, instead of filling out a paper form, you or your staff and/or volunteers register or check them in on a tablet, phone, laptop, or computer.

SIMC gives time back to agency staff and volunteers. All those hours spent counting and sorting each visit can now be used to better assist the needs of your program and community. Reportable data and information are available the next day with visual charts and graphs. Your neighbors’ data is secure, and they can opt out at any time.

SLAFB already has over 30 partners and programs using this powerful, easy-to-use tool. Service Insights was launched by Feeding America in 2022 and is now in use by 70 food banks and over 3,600 agencies across the country.

To learn more about how Service Insights can help your pantry, please contact Ben Rosensweig, SLAFB’s Community Data Coordinator, at brosensweig@stlfoodbank.org or 314-451-1117.

What are the benefits of Service Insights?

  • Faster intake, faster service
  • Reports for end-of-month totals and grants
  • Event Registration
  • Duplicate Management
  • Secure data
  • Metric tracking of important information, including which foods are needed and desired most by your community

Is my neighbor/client data safe?

Yes. Paper forms are often insecurely stored, creating security risks. Neighbor data can only be seen by your agency. Not even Feeding America can access your data unless login information is shared to diagnose occasional technical issues.
