Volunteer Appreciation Month!

Volunteer Appreciation Month!
Meredith Knopp

April is National Volunteer Month, however, at the St. Louis Area Foodbank, EVERY month is a reason to celebrate the hundreds of men, women, and children that volunteer with us at our facility in Bridgeton, or out in the community. We know that we simply cannot do what we do without our volunteers – so to us, our volunteers are part of the team – and part of our family.

It is also critically important to recognize the incredible generosity and support of this community.  Our mission is critical and the number of individuals and families, hard working individuals and families needing support due to higher prices of food, housing, medicines, and utilities continues to rise.

We do not take this generosity for granted, and we are truly humbled and appreciate everyone that shows up to make a difference – over 50,000 hours’ worth of difference every year! We know how valuable your time is and that you have choices on where to volunteer. We are deeply grateful to everyone that CHOOSES to volunteer at or with the St. Louis Area Foodbank.

We also want to thank those that volunteer to support our mission by dedicating time to organizing a food or fund drive through their employer, school, or other organizations.  As well as the thousands of hours dedicated through large, community-wide food drives, such as the Boy Scouts “Scouting for Food” drive in November, and the US Postal Service “Stamp Out Hunger”  drive, coming up in a few weeks. Every hour given by every person makes a difference!

Last, but certainly not least, we thank those who volunteer their time to support us through their leadership and advocacy by serving on our Board of Directors or one of our committees.  Your gift of time and talent is truly invaluable.

You are helping us provide more than food. You are helping us provide HOPE – and HOPE is a truly powerful force.  So, every month, but especially this month, we want to shout out, celebrate, and honor our volunteers, and thank you for all that you do!  We are grateful to have you as part of the Foodbank family! Cheers to you!
