Walmart | Fight Hunger, Spark Change Campaign

This month we want to highlight our incredible partnership with Wal Mart and Sam’s Club as they have partnered with Feeding America, and thus, the St. Louis Area Foodbank for their annual Fight Hunger. Spark Change. campaign. This is the 11th year for this campaign, that will run in stores, clubs and online from April 1 – 29, 2024.

This amazing opportunity allows shoppers to make a difference and support the mission of the St. Louis Area Foodbank by simply shopping at one of their stores and purchasing select products from participating suppliers. Making additional donations and roundups at the register, both in-store and online, means even more funds to support our critical work here in the bi-state region, by providing vital resources as we work to ensure our neighbors have the food they need and deserve. There are three easy ways for customers and members to participate to support the St. Louis Area Foodbank:

• For every participating product purchased in store or online at Walmart.com or SamsClub.com, the supplier will donate the monetary equivalent of at least one meal ($0.10) on behalf of a Feeding America partner food bank at Walmart and five meals ($0.50) at Sam’s Club, up to applicable limits. See specially marked packages for full details.

• Donate at check-out in stores or clubs. Donations can be made in $1, $5 or an amount chosen by the customer/member. Customers can also round up their purchase on Walmart.com and the Walmart app.

• Donate at Feeding America’s Fight Hunger. Spark Change. campaign site at either www.FeedingAmerica.org/Walmart or www.FeedingAmerica.org/SamsClub.

We know that round up campaigns and shopping campaigns like this work – and they matter. Customers are asked at retailers, restaurants, and even online to donate or “round up” to support an organization/charity – and I can tell you that these donations, as small as they may seem at the point of purchase, add up to tremendous impact for organizations selected to receive these funds.

We also know that the cost of just about everything is higher now than just one year ago. This impacts all of us, but hits harder for low-income families, or families that are on a fixed income. However, what is also true is that funds coming to the St. Louis Area Foodbank make a difference – with almost 97 cents of every dollar going to support our programs and getting food into the hands of people that need it – right here in our community. This type of impact is rare in the non-profit space, and we are proud that our audits prove our efficiency and ability to direct donors’ dollars to our mission.

To date, the Fight Hunger. Spark Change. campaign has helped to secure nearly 1.9 billion meals for local Feeding America food banks across the country, including the St. Louis Area Foodbank. Fighting hunger means more than providing food to our neighbors in need. It’s about showing up in communities to support our neighbors in a way that makes a difference. So, thank you for showing up for the St. Louis Area Foodbank and making your purchases, rounding up, and making donations at your local Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club both in person and online throughout the month of April.

Together, we can provide the food and hope that so many families are in need of today – and spark real change together across the bi-state region. To learn more about the St. Louis Area Foodbank please visit: https://stlfoodbank.org/
