‘Tis the ‘Season of Giving’

‘Tis the ‘Season of Giving’ at the St. Louis Area Foodbank and we are so excited to find new ways to celebrate all the holidays with our amazing neighbors this season. Hopefully, you have been following us on social media to learn more about this campaign, and how we are encouraging everyone to give this holiday season by giving food, funds, your time or your voice to ensure that the holidays are a joyful time of year for everyone.

We know that whether you celebrate Diwali, Thanksgiving, Hannukah, Christmas, Kwanza or Festivus – the holidays bring people together and food is always a part of the celebration. We realize that this might be the first time in a few years that your celebrations may be happening in person with those you hold most dear. While this is truly a reason to celebrate, it can also cause some potential concerns about families having the means to celebrate the holidays. This is where the St Louis Area Foodbank is stepping up to provide food and hope during our ‘Season of Giving’ campaign. Here are a few ways that you can help join us this year:

Give Food: From the 36th annual ‘Scouting for Food’ drive to our friends at Our Lady of the Snows and Anheuser Busch collecting non-perishable items at their elaborate light displays – look for a food donation location near you. You can celebrate the season with your family while providing other families non-perishable food items for their celebrations. Give Funds: Giving is always in season. Support local businesses that are giving back to the Foodbank or keep an eye out for our matching gift opportunities on November 18th and November 30th. Every dollar raised goes right back into our community to provide healthy and nutritious foods for families this holiday season. Give Time:  We love to have you volunteer with us! Whether you decide to pack food in our volunteer center, distribute food in our communities, attend our Holiday Helpie Hour on December 2nd, or volunteer your talents to help our team—know that we are energized and inspired by how many people in our community love to roll up their sleeves and work alongside us! Give Voice: Sharing your voice with others is one of the most powerful ways to make a difference, whether you choose to educate and advocate about hunger issues locally or participate in our “Hope Notes” program to bring holiday cheer to seniors. We hope to see many of you this month at our facility in Bridgeton, at one of our many holiday distributions (including our 4th annual “Thanksgiving Together”) event, or downtown at the Festival of Lights and the Ameren Thanks for Giving Parade. However and wherever you decide to participate in our Season of Giving campaign, know that every meal, every dollar, every voice and every hour is appreciated and will make a difference in the lives of someone living right here in our community.

We know that memories are made when you gather around a table. From all of us here at the St. Louis Area Foodbank – cheers to a healthy, safe and hope-filled ‘Season of Giving’ holiday.
