Food is Love

Food is Love

February is a short month, although a day longer this year, but a great time to really reflect on something that we have built a campaign around, because it is so true – Food Is Love.

When you think about events and occasions, the common denominators are food and family or friends. Whether it is celebrating a holiday, occasion, or gathering to watch a sporting event, there is always a group of people, and wonderful food. I love cooking for my family and friends – from baked goods to wholesome meals – being in the kitchen is a way for me to create something that I know will bring smiles to their faces, and that to me, is an expression of love.

Even as we look at holidays, like Valentine’s Day, how many advertisements, pop-ups on social media or commercials have you heard from restaurants or chocolatiers – everyone is tying in food to celebrate with the ones you love.

This February, we are highlighting the importance of ensuring that families can share and show love by having the healthy and nutritious foods we need through our Food on the Move program. We have expanded our distributions into new areas of our service territory, but the demand has far exceeded even our expectations, and so we need your help.

If you are able to help support our Food on the Move program, and help share the love with someone this month, please visit: https://stlfoodbank.org. There is no greater expression of compassion and generosity than helping someone in need, with no expectation of anything in return. If you would like to get involved with our programming and volunteering so you can see the impact of your generosity, please visit: https://stlfoodbank.org/give-time/ and join us at an upcoming Food on the Move distribution.

Whether you celebrate with loved ones, friends, or even with new friends– we wish you a month filled with happiness, love, and lots of wonderful food!
