Health & Wellness
The St. Louis Area Foodbank offers free nutrition education for the communities we serve across the bi-state region. Our Healthy Pantry Initiative provides resources for both partners and neighbors to provide nutrition education and address food insecurity. Helping neighbors make the healthy choice the easy choice when preparing meals at home.
Healthy Pantry Initiative
The Healthy Pantry Initiative is designed to encourage dignity for food pantry neighbors while promoting healthy choices and reducing food waste.
This initiative aims to support pantries in providing neighbors with autonomy and choice whenever feasible.
The program encourages pantries to include small environmental and practical changes that make healthy choices easier. Examples include signage and nutrition messaging, shelf tags and product labeling, pairing food items to encourage meal ideas, strategic food placement and organization, and nutrition education materials.
The Healthy Pantry Initiative also provides resources to both partners and neighbors, including educational handouts, recipe cards, cooking demonstrations, and wellness training. If you’re interested in hosting cooking demos, presentations, or wellness training, please fill out the Nutrition Request form below.
