Thank You to Our Volunteers for All You Do!
By Meredith Knopp
Spring is in the air for sure! The Cardinals season has begun, we are seeing fewer high temperatures in the 40s and 50s and flowers and trees are starting to wake from their winter slumber, showing us all their beauty and color – signifying new life and a new season.
April is also National Volunteer Month. This month we want to pause and recognize the incredible generosity and support of this community. Our mission is critical and the number of individuals and families, hard working individuals and families needing support due to higher prices of utilities, housing, medicines and especially food continues to rise. We simply could not do what we do without the thousands of men, women and yes, children, that come to the St. Louis Area Foodbank every year to help us provide healthy and nutritious foods across the 26 counties that we serve.
We do not take this generosity for granted, and we are truly humbled and appreciate everyone that shows up to make a difference – over 50,000 hours’ worth of difference! We know that you have choices on where to volunteer your time – and we are deeply grateful for your contributions – and why we are so confident that together, just like winter has turned to spring, our community will weather this time and emerge stronger.
We know that you are helping us provide not just food, but HOPE – and HOPE is a truly powerful force. So every month, but especially this month, we want to shout out, celebrate, and honor our volunteers, and thank you for all that you do! We are proud to have you as part of the Foodbank family! You are truly making a difference!
