Hidden among the trees in rural
Washington County, Missouri stands Operation Tiff Food Basket. Seemingly held
together by sheer will, it's dilapidated structure is in desperate need of repair.
The ceiling is caving in, and the floor of the rear room is home to water run-off after a
rain storm. In addition, the building is not air-conditioned, so service to clients
is compromised due to the heat. Through all of these obstacles, Operation Tiff has
struggled to stay open and feed a multitude of needy clients in their community -- which
they have been doing successfully for the past fifteen years. Each month, Operation
Tiff assists approximately 250-300 families with food, clothes, and personal care
items. In addition, 41% of Operation Tiff's clients are children.
Unfortunately, after a recent inspection, Operation Tiff is in danger of having to
close its doors. The deterioration of the building poses a health risk in having a
food pantry there. The pantry has a dedicated set of volunteers, but little
financial support to make the necessary repairs. To keep Operation Tiff in
operation, they will need a new building, or large storage area, building funds and
materials. If you would like to find out more about Operation Tiff, or how to help,
