Kids are kids. They all play games. They all ask questions and look to us for the answers. They give unconditional love. And when the weather begins to grow warmer, most begin counting down days until summer vacation. Because to most kids, summer means three months of swimming, sleeping in, and playing games like "Whiffle Ball" or "Hide & Go Seek." But for some kids its not like that at all. Instead of pool parties and hiding from friends, theyre forced to spend their summer hiding from hunger and it certainly isn't a game. You see, many families in need rely on the schools breakfast and lunch programs for free or reduced-cost meals. This support helps ease a financial strain and it allows parents the security of knowing their child is receiving at least one nutritious meal each day. But once summer vacation arrives, these families rely on our network of over 350 local food pantries and soup kitchens to help replace that meal. And together, we must find new ways of combating this sudden jump in need. We can do it, but we cant do it alone. We need your help. As one of our supporters, your impact can change lives. Hunger does not discriminate, nor does it allow time off for vacations. Thank you in advance for your contribution. |
