Foodbank Gets Grant for Hunger Outreach

Missouri Foundation for Health (MFH)The St. Louis Area Foodbank has been awarded a grant to implement the Hunger Outreach & Public Education project (HOPE), a new program designed to educate member agencies and their clients about Missouri benefit programs, including food stamps and healthcare services, which are available to the underprivileged.

Funding for this project was provided in whole by the Missouri Foundation for Health (MFH). The Missouri Foundation for Health is a philanthropic organization whose mission is to improve the health of the people in the communities it serves.

According to the Missouri Revised Statute, "Hunger is the lack of sufficient nutritious food to maintain health or morale or achieve optimal human potential." The Foodbank helps alleviate hunger by providing food. Now, with the help of MFH, we will be able to provide educational materials, workshops, and information to the Foodbank’s Missouri member agencies and their clients. By going the extra mile, the Foodbank hopes to help the 62,000 Missourians currently being served who have never applied for food stamps.
