We guide families in need through the process of applying for food stamps.
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, also known as SNAP, provides benefits commonly referred to as food stamps. These benefits provide a crucial resource to low-income individuals struggling with food insecurity.
The St. Louis Area Foodbank’s SNAP Outreach Coordinators visit partner agencies during regular distribution hours and provide SNAP assistance to clients.
The SNAP Outreach Coordinators pre-screen clients to determine potential eligibility for benefits, and then provide assistance with SNAP applications.
The coordinators then provide all the necessary information to help prepare clients for their interview with the local Department of Human Services. The coordinators also answer clients’ questions about benefits and work to solve issues pertaining to SNAP benefits.
Overall, eligibility is determined by the client’s local DHS office.
