Generosity of Rams players results in gift to St. Louis Area
Foodbank
St.
Louis (December 26, 2007) -
During the holiday season, St. Louis Rams players
pooled together their would-be individual donations and were instead
able to give larger amounts to more charitable organizations serving
the bi-state community. Included among those organizations
benefiting was the St. Louis Area Foodbank with a donation of $5,000.
The
contribution was a result of Rams players exceeding their
Thanksgiving donation goal for the annual Urban League turkey drive.
Each year, the Rams and the St. Louis Area Urban League team up to
distribute Thanksgiving dinners to needy families and much of the
project is funded by player contributions.

The players responded to the Thanksgiving
project with tremendous generosity and it allowed us to spread that
generosity beyond Thanksgiving and the Urban League,” said Wallace.
“By making the donation to the St. Louis Area Foodbank, we are
helping hundreds of other food pantries and agencies and making a far
reaching impact.”
"The Rams have supported the Foodbank since they
arrived in St. Louis," said Frank Finnegan, Executive Director of the
St. Louis Area Foodbank. "From food drives to events like our
annual Taste of the NFL party, they have remained wonderful friends
in our fight against hunger."
About The St. Louis Area Foodbank: The St. Louis Area Foodbank feeds hungry people by distributing food through its member
agencies, and educates the public about the nature of and the
solutions to the problems of hunger. The
Foodbank gathers and distributes nearly 13.4 million pounds of
food each year to 500+ food pantries, homeless shelters, soup
kitchens and emergency feeding programs throughout 14 counties in
eastern Missouri and 12 counties in southwestern Illinois.
