ST.
LOUIS (June 06, 2006) --
Missouri Governor
Matt Blunt visited the St. Louis Area Foodbank today for National
Hunger Awareness Day to sign into law
House Bill 1559 which adds grocery and
convenience stores to the list of donors that can donate
food to a charity or nonprofit organization for distribution
without being liable for damages resulting from the food's
condition. "Last year I visited the St. Louis Area
Foodbank and witnessed firsthand the compassionate spirit of
this organization as they work to feed the hungry," Blunt
said. "This bill expands the pool of existing food donors
and will help ensure safe, adequate food makes it to the
tables of those in need instead of being tossed in the
trash."
