The Missouri Food Bank Association sponsored
Hunger Advocacy Day to raise awareness of state-wide hunger issues and begin a dialogue
about systemic changes required for long term solutions. The association includes
food banks in Cape Girardeau, Springfield, St. Joseph, St. Louis and Kansas City.
Missouris food banks distributed over 60
million pounds of food and related household items last year through more than 2,000 food
pantries, soup kitchens and meal centers. This food enabled over 47 million meals.
Anyone can be an advocate for hunger
relief. Simply let your legislators know how you feel about hunger in your
community. Visit www.house.state.mo.us
or www.senate.state.mo.us for
information on how to contact them.
