ST. LOUIS AREA FOODBANK RECEIVES GRANT FROM LUTHERAN CHARITIES FOUNDATION OF SAINT LOUIS
FOR ITS KIDS CAFE PROGRAM
ST. LOUIS (March 9, 2001)
The St. Louis Area Foodbank recently received a grant in the amount of $10,000 from
Lutheran Charities Foundation in support of its Kids Cafe program. The Kids Cafe program
provides low-income children with a nourishing meal at least once a day in an environment
that is safe, accessible and convenient. "We currently support 5 Kids Cafe sites in
poverty-stricken areas throughout the bi-state community feeding more than 200 children
each day. This gracious gift will help ensure that those children in need will continue
receiving the nourishment they deserve," stated Frank Finnegan, executive director of
the St. Louis Area Foodbank.
Kids Cafe is a national program started by
Americas Second Harvest and localized by the St. Louis Area Foodbank. Current sites
include Fellowship Center; Operation Latchkey; Make A Difference Center;
Lansdowne/Bunkum Road; and Dignity House. For more information about Kids Cafe
