Food Stamp Eligibility
> Gross Income
Gross income is a household’s total income before deductions. It is everything the household receives that has value, including employment, social security, legally obligated child support paid, etc. Meeting the gross income limits is the first step in eligibility. The limits (as of October 1, 2004) are as follows:

> Net Income
Net income is the household’s income after deduction allowable expenses (see below). Meeting net income limits is the next step in determining a client’s eligibility. The limits (as of October 1, 2004) are as follows:

Please note, if you are disabled or over 60 years of age, your maximum levels may be higher.  Check with your local DFS office for more  for information.
The Missouri Dept. of Social Services website has added two new great features!  Now there is a pre-screening tool available to see if you might qualify for food stamps.  You can also download the food stamp application along with instructions on how to complete the forms.  Go to:  http://www.dss.mo.gov/dfs/fstamp/ in order to get started.
